Editions and Copyright Information

The edition of TAIHEIKI inserted on JHTI is taken from the Nihon Koten Bungaku Taikei (Compendium of Japanese Classical Literary Works) printed by Iwanami Publishing Company in 1965. An electronically reproduced edition of this text is included in the Nihon Koten Bungaku Sakuhin Database (Database of Japanese Classical Literary Works) held by the National Institute of Japanese Literature in Tokyo, Japan. Copies of each paragraph printed in modern Japanese characters are included in JHTI.

The English translation of the TAIHEIKI inserted on JHTI is The Taiheiki: A Chronicle of Medieval Japan, translated by Helen Craig McCullough (Columbia University Press, 1959). Permission to publish this translation electronically was granted by an agreement signed by officials of the Columbia University Press and the University of California in 2006.
